DragonCon Day 3- It’s Darn Early!

Ughh….up and at’em, I guess. Got me a cup of hotel coffee and a muffin while waiting for a friend to arrive. Driving into Atlanta today. Did the Marta thing Friday and that’s fine and all, but they shut it down a bit early for me.

Had the chance to play a CORETEX rules game Friday. The game was a home brew based on the PC game Fallout. I’d never played any of the Cortex system games and found it very easy to learn and the rules did not get in the way of the game at all. Makes me want to give Serenity a try. Firefly was a great show, but I degress…

Read most of the first volume of Mouse Guard last night and I am enjoying it very much. Thinking about picking up the second while I am at the con.

It’s been great fun, btw. I have GOT to hit the open gaming area today.

Lunch at DragonCon

Lunch via the food court in the Marriot. Just finished watching a live feed of the Shatner/ Nimoy Q&A. Funny stuff. Nothing new or exciting to report from it, though. Lunch then Godlike.

DragonCon 2009 Day 0

Made it to Atlanta this afternoon. Took a break from my 5 hours on the road to check email and catch my breath at a Starbucks North of Downtown. Went down to the hotel to pick up my badge about 5:30. Man, good thing I didn’t wait till tomorrow morning. The line was LONG. Thankfully, I had pre registered, which meant I would only have to wait an hour and a half instead of the HOURS of waiting for those who did not.

This is my first DragonCon and already I see a BIG problem. Picking up the badge I had to wait in a line for 90 minutes before getting to the end of it. Now, at the end of the line they have booths where they take you by last name/ alphabetical order (for example- “Sa – Sc” is ONE booth).  There was NO ONE at my booth. Nada. Meanwhile, MOST of the line was for letters A-C. People manning the other booths were killing time while these booths (A-C) were over run. How long have they been doing this? This is nuts! I should have been in and out of the area in less than 30 minutes. Someone at DragonCon needs to come up with a better plan!

Tomorrow begins the con for real. Gaming in the morning and films/ fun in the evening. I plan on having some pix up late in the day along with various reports from around the con.
