From the Journals of Mack Brolin

  Been pretty slow lately.  Just enough business to keep the lights on and the coffee pot full. I keep watching my back for more of those Chinamen, but it looks like they’re laying low for now. Been looking in on my new friends as well. From what I’ve found out, that one Joe is a hell of a flier. Word is, he has his own plane. Might be good to keep around in an emergency.

 That dame, haven’t found out much about her. I’ve got my people looking, but nothing. That dame is going to be not much but trouble. She handled herself ok in a pinch. ‘least she didn’t get nabbed by the goons. Figure it’s going to take some real detective work to find out what her angle is.

 Well, I’m out for the night. Going to stop off for a drink and small talk with the guys around the corner. Maybe a stuff drink will clear things up a bit.
